Nose: Honey, musk, oak, old flowers, cedar, mint, little yeast, mandarin oranges So, let’s see if this dusty mini is sitting in the back for a reason, or rather if it’s better than some other Jura’s I’ve had. And by line-up, I mean two whiskies that are unpeated and purchasable by schmucks like me. This dram is part of the ‘non-peated’ line-up. Confused yet? Someone’s making this, that’s all I’m saying. It was owned by Whyte and Mackay, which did own United Breweries Group, until they sold them to Emperador Inc. Jura, Scotland is located right next door to Islay, of which it’s sometimes (see: Always) compared. It’s not like the Campbell’s killed everyone’s goldfish or something. And if you’ve had the 10 Origin, you probably know why. Why maligned? Well, they aren’t that well loved. This is from the some times maligned Isle of Jura distillery. Since my plans changed for the week I was able to sit down last night with one such dram, Isle of Jura 16 Diurach’s Own. That and my wallet is so full of money that is bulges a little, I’m trying to switch my wife over to HD aerial cable mixed with Youtube and Netflix so we can save money, trying to write a novel, taking Micro and Macro Economics, and generally sad that I need to cut back on sugar. And seeing as how some of them are ones I bought in Scotland the last time I was there, I should probably aim to finish them up before going to Scotland again. So I have a few too many samples I’ve collected over the years. ![]()
